MAIN ROLES:
Cyprus National Addictions Authority (NAAC) is a public nationwide organization. It is a coordinating body of the National Strategy in Cyprus including all the actions that are taken by ministries, NGOs, universities.
THE SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES:
  • Accredits prevention programs in Cyprus
  • Funds prevention programs in Cyprus
  • Training of professionals in prevention in Cyprus
  • Coordinates the actions in the National Strategy included in the prevention pillar

OTHER INFORMATION:
The NAAC has an accreditation procedure for the prevention programs and also funds programs/ interventions that have added preventive value as regards addictive substances (illegal drugs, alcohol, tobacco) and pathological gambling through a call for tenders which reflects needs of specific geographical areas or target groups that are not met by any other existing programmes. Non-governmental organizations, universities, other non-profit organizations, as well as governmental services and public entities that deliver programs/interventions which are accredited by the NAAC have the right to apply for funding.
