MAIN ROLES:
EHYT is actively doing advocacy seeking to influence the mandates, funding and structures of prevention both nationally and regionally. EHYT is also one main actors of prevention related capacity building across different professional groups.
THE SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES:
EHYT works at national, regional and local level. The work encompasses activities aiming to prevent use and related harms among children and youth (mostly via school based education, teacher training, parents evenings and online activities via chat, social media, etc) as well as adults (support for workplace substance use programs, low threashold meeting places, support for local alcohol policy implementation, ombudsman services relating to substance use care, 24/ 7 free hotline for anyone seeking help relating to issues about substance use); support for municipalities in building, planning and coordination prevention related work and regional prevention structures. EHYT also coordinates national network of 50+ NGOs that have an interest in substance use prevention and harm reduction, supports its own member organizations, and organises capacity building accross the different regions in Finland.
